Shortly after the Seattle Seahawks fire Jim Mora, they are hot in pursuit of Pete Carroll. While Pete Carroll has been wildly successful as coach of the USC Trojans. His history as a Head Coach in the NFL is spotty at best. His 6-10 single season at the helm of the New York Jets in 1994 speaks for itself. The trend with the New England Patriots from 1997-1999, which saw the record decline from 10-6 to 9-7 to 8-8, certainly does not inspire confidence.
Yes, I understand that the success with USC was grand and that it was more recent. It was also in college football where recruiting is as important as coaching (perhaps even more so). So, I am not so certain the success will translate to the NFL. But what do I know? I just watch the game. I do not play it and I do not coach it.
